With many hours of work, the committee has been actively collecting funds for this program and shipping enjoyment to our troops in Iraq. This past Christmas, gifts were sent to several troops in the 184th Military Intelligence Co., 1/25 Brigade Troops Battalion, 1/25 Stryker Brigade, 1st Platoon Lawdogs. Son of Brother Mike Weldy, Brock, wrote to express their deepest thanks for the gifts sent. For some of the troops, “it was the only gift received”.
He went on to say, “The gifts mean a lot to us especially this time of year being away from home and all. It’s nice to get something to remind of us of home. It’s also great to know that we have people out there that are not protesting against us. Dad and fellow Masons thank you so much for doing this for us and to Mr. Van Valkenburgh please send all our thanks to your wife as well for the gifts that were so nicely wrapped which made it feel more like home.”
This thank you note makes it all worth while.
