In a Lodge, just as in every human organization or activity, it is ultimately the man on the sidelines who determines its history, its destiny and its value. In the Brother on the sidelines attends his Lodge, if he is cordial and sympathetic with his Brethren, it he is loyal and cooperative with the officers who for the time being are the responsible leaders, if he his a conductor of enthusiasm and vision and courage that make things succeed, and a non-conductor of the lethargy and jealousies and obstructions that strangle and defeat them, then, even if he holds no office and receives no recognition, he is in fact not on the sidelines but in the thick of things.
