Special Meetings

Last month I listed the goals of the New Member Development Committee and stated I wanted to focus on getting more of the local Brothers to come out to Lodge. The Lodge inspection is coming February 17th. This is a good time to make your commitment to come out and see your brothers. Enjoy a great meal and make our Lodge look good.

We are considering having a Rusty Nail Degree or a Table Lodge. The Rusty Nail Degree is designed to familiarize a brother with signs, tokens or words he may have been forgotten. A Table Lodge is a special dinner and stylized toasts (with grape juice, you know the rules). It is described in the oldest of Masonic records. Both are a lot of fun. Your feedback, as to which you would prefer, would be appreciated. Call WM Thom Dumford at (513) 708-4684 with your opinion.

Setting Goals

The New Member Development Committee has three goals:

  • Bring new members to our fraternity.
  • Get them active in the fraternity.
  • Keep all brothers active and fill the chairs on the sidelines.
  • We have been very successful at the first goal, receiving 44 petitions in the last two years. Many of those new Brothers are active. The third goal, however, has proven more elusive. Too many meetings have low attendance. This year expect to receive calls from your Officers and Brothers.

It was my honor along with the DDGM to present a 50 year pin to Brother Ned Thorpe. That Brother, after a long hiatus, became an active, involved member. He currently serves as Tyler.

Please resolve to attend your Lodge this year.

    New Member Development Update

We have had another great year for membership. The total number of petitions received this year was 18! Unfortunately this was not the number required to force our outgoing Master, Duff Woodside to jump from a perfectly good airplane. Still this number is more than twice the number of petitions in recent years. Keep up the good work. This year in addition to petitions we hope to encourage attendance and participation by both old and new brothers. Let’s all pledge to try and attend lodge, at least a couple times this year.
